Emotion Coaching I learned a lot about how children need to be reaffirmed in the lesson about Emotion Coaching.  I just wish that I had learned this while my oldest two were still living at home! Emotion Coaching is a parenting technique that helps children to understand their own feelings. I really liked that Emotion Coaching actually starts with parents learning to recognize their children's feelings. There are 5 steps to emotion coaching according to www.parentcounts.org  They are: 1. Be aware of your emotions 2. Connect with your child 3. Listen to your child and respect your child's feelings by taking time to listen carefully. 4. Name Emotions 5. Find good solutions and explore solutions to problems together. These 5 steps seem quite simple by just reading them, but when I broke them down I realized that so much more goes into these!
